The event was attended by Kwon Ikhyeon, Governor of Buan County, Lee Eunmi, Director of the Jeonbuk Institute for Bioindustry Convergence, representatives from Doosan Robotics, as well as leaders of local youth agro-food organizations and various other institutions and groups.

The "Buan County Agro-Bio Food S.M.A.R.T Education Center" is the first smart education center in North Jeolla Special Self-Governing Province to specialize in providing education on agro-food production and operations using smart agriculture, artificial intelligence (AI), and collaborative robots.

The RISE Project Group of Jeonju University plans to develop this center, in collaboration with Buan County, into a key regional educational hub for fostering the local economy.

With the opening of the center, a customized hands-on training infrastructure will be established for young agro-food professionals in Buan County, including practical training on smart devices, automation equipment, and product development. The center aims to operate regionally specialized educational programs that will enable active adaptation to smart operations in the agro-bio food sector.

Kwon Ikhyeon, Governor of Buan County, stated, "The opening of this education center marks the establishment of a new educational system that supports the smart transformation of the agro-food industry and enables local agro-food companies to develop and sell products using Buan County's agricultural products. Moving forward, we will work together to shape the future of Buan through policy innovation focused on production and distribution data, and realize sustainable development strategies."

Professor Jeon Hyojin, project lead at Jeonju University, commented, "Jeonju University will do its utmost to develop talent cultivation programs in the agro-food sector for Buan County, build smart infrastructure for agro-food development, expand connections with the Saemangeum region, and grow as a hub for education and the local economy in the agro-bio food sector."

Meanwhile, the establishment of the S.M.A.R.T system for the agro-food industry by the RISE Project Group of Jeonju University and Buan County aims to develop Buan's agro-food resources into a specialized food tech industry and create a local economy hub.

Through the commercialization of regionally specialized content, the project aims to contribute to regional industrialization and content development using the university's research resources, and to promote the commercialization of content hubs through the following: ▲S (Smart Automation) establishment of automated agro-food systems, ▲M (Market-oriented Development) development of market-driven products, ▲A (Agri-Food Tech) commercialization of agro-food food tech, ▲R (Regional Innovation) regional agro-food innovation, and ▲T (Tech-driven Growth) technology-based concentration and hub formation of local agro-food sales. Expanding youth entrepreneurship is also a key goal.
