The personal information of Kim Youngwoo (54), the murderer of a missing woman in Cheongju, was publicly released on December 4.
Kim's name, age, and photograph will be posted on the website of the Chungbuk Provincial Police Agency for 30 days starting from this day.
The Chungbuk Provincial Police Agency convened a Personal Information Disclosure Review Committee the previous day and decided to disclose the personal information of Kim Youngwoo, who was arrested on charges of murder and abandonment of a corpse. Kim did not file any objection regarding this decision.
This is the first time that the personal information of a criminal has been disclosed in Chungbuk Province.
On October 14, at around 9 p.m., in a roadside parking lot in Munbaek-myeon, Jincheon-gun, Chungbuk, Kim Youngwoo allegedly became enraged after learning that his ex-girlfriend, Ms. A (in her 50s), was seeing another man. He is accused of stabbing her more than 10 times with a weapon, resulting in her death, inside her parked SUV.
Kim, who runs a business related to wastewater treatment in Jincheon, is also accused of moving the body into his own vehicle after the crime, going to work the next day, and then, after leaving work around 6 p.m., abandoning the body in a wastewater treatment tank at a business partner's facility in Eumseong-gun.
The police recovered Ms. A's body approximately 44 days after her disappearance, following Kim Youngwoo's confession.
