A man in his 50s who made more than 700 false 112 emergency calls over several months has been apprehended by the police.
On December 3, the Incheon Yeonsu Police Station announced that they had arrested a man in his 50s, identified as A, on charges including obstruction of official duties by deception and theft.
From March until last month, A is accused of making 750 false reports to 112, thereby interfering with police work.
According to the police investigation, he also visited police stations and local government offices multiple times to file malicious complaints or verbally abuse staff.
A had also been referred to summary trials five times for making false reports such as, "I found a weapon used in an unsolved case at home and put it in the mailbox," and "A bus driver is operating a bus while heavily intoxicated."
