Seongbuk-gu in Seoul (Mayor Lee Seungro) will hold the "2025 Seongbuk-gu Photo Contest Award-Winning Works Exhibition" throughout December at the cultural space inside Gireum Station's subway area.
According to Seongbuk-gu, this exhibition is designed as a lifestyle-friendly event that allows citizens to easily encounter art in their daily commute. Citizens using Gireum Station will be able to appreciate photographic works capturing various landscapes and everyday moments of Seongbuk along their travel routes.
This exhibition will showcase 24 award-winning works selected through the photo contest "Moments to Be Remembered Forever: What Is Your Seongbuk Life Shot?" held from August 1 to 29. This year, a total of 557 entries were submitted, featuring fierce competition among works that captured the four seasons, streets, and people of Seongbuk.
The Grand Prize was awarded to a work that warmly portrayed everyday life in Seongbuk. In the general category, "Warmth of Seongbukcheon," which captured the scenery of the European Christmas Festival, was selected as the top work. In the smartphone category, "Speed 30, and My 30 Years," which depicted an aged speed limit sign against a sunset sky, was chosen as the best entry.
This year, in particular, a foreign participant's work received the Excellence Award, adding a new perspective to the way Seongbuk is seen. Various works, including Excellence and Encouragement Awards, are on display, presenting the essence of Seongbuk that resonates across nationalities and generations.
Lee Seungro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, stated, "Holding the exhibition not only in front of the district office but also at the subway station is intended to bring the charm of Seongbuk even closer to daily life," adding, "We will continue to expand opportunities for citizens to naturally experience culture and the arts."
