Balanced Achievements Across All Areas of Livestock Policy and Disease Control Administration
Haenam County in South Jeolla Province announced on December 2 that it had won two awards: the top prize in the "2025 Livestock Policy Comprehensive Evaluation" and the excellence award in the "Animal Disease Control and Hygiene Comprehensive Evaluation," both organized by South Jeolla Province.
This evaluation was designed to comprehensively assess the drive and effectiveness of overall livestock administration across 22 cities and counties in the province.
The comprehensive evaluation of livestock policies assessed performance in four areas: livestock policy, animal welfare, livestock management, and livestock resources. The animal disease control and hygiene evaluation focused on four areas: disease control policy, animal disease prevention, livestock product hygiene, and response to disease outbreaks.
Haenam County achieved outstanding results in areas such as the modernization of livestock facilities, the full or partial closure of dog breeding farms, the summer forage crop program for rice paddies, and the designation of new green livestock farms.
Additionally, the county received high marks for its efforts in establishing a livestock infectious disease prevention system, operating disinfection facilities and control checkpoints, and strengthening safety management of livestock products.
A county official stated, "These awards are the result of joint efforts between the administration and local farmers," adding, "We will continue to strengthen cooperation between the provincial and county governments, expand eco-friendly and smart livestock infrastructure, and implement thorough disease control measures to build a sustainable green livestock city in Haenam."
