Gwangjin District in Seoul (Mayor Kim Kyungho) will be recruiting participants for the "2026 Senior Job and Social Activity Support Program" from December 3 to December 19.

The number of participants to be recruited is 3,304, an increase of 202 compared to this year. This includes 2,281 for senior public interest activities, 648 for senior competency utilization projects, 252 for community project groups, and 123 for employment support.

The types of jobs will be organized by project group according to the abilities and circumstances of the participants. Opportunities include community volunteer work such as local environment protection and gateball court maintenance; roles that utilize experience and expertise, such as supporting childcare facilities and providing senior pension guidance; private-sector activities such as subway parcel delivery and running small-scale businesses; and employment support activities for private companies, such as dispatching test supervisors.

Eligible applicants are seniors residing in Gwangjin District, with specific requirements varying by program. The senior public interest activity program is open to basic pension recipients aged 65 and older, while the senior competency utilization program is for those aged 65 and older (some types accept those aged 60 and above) who are suitable for the project. Both the community project group and employment support fields are open to those aged 60 and older who meet the project requirements.

Applications can be submitted at the local community service center in the applicant's neighborhood or at private agencies such as the Gwangjin Senior Club, Gwangjin Senior Welfare Center, and the Gwangjin District branch of the Korean Senior Citizens Association. Applicants must bring their ID and a copy of their resident registration. Basic pension recipients must also submit a copy of their pension account book. Final selection results will be individually notified on January 15 next year. The program for the coming year is scheduled to begin on February 2.

Mayor Kim Kyungho stated, "Senior job programs not only support income-generating activities for seniors but also help them utilize their accumulated experience and expertise within the local community. I hope many will participate and enjoy a healthy and vibrant later life," adding, "We will continue to expand welfare policies in various fields, including job opportunities."
