Remarks on the Establishment of the Pungam Integrated Health Center and More
Kim Sooyoung, a member of the Gwangju Seo-gu Council, announced on December 2 that she delivered a five-minute free speech during the 336th regular session's second plenary meeting held on December 1, addressing the designation of the Sejeong Outlet as an autonomous commercial district and the establishment of the Pungam Integrated Health Center.
Assemblywoman Kim stated, "Sejeong Outlet is the optimal candidate site, meeting all legal and administrative requirements," adding, "An opportunity to restore the commercial district and transform the local economy is right before us."
She further explained, "All the necessary groundwork has been completed, including confirmation from the Ministry of SMEs and Startups regarding eligible areas, the establishment of a cooperative structure among merchants, landlords, and the local government, and the completion of baseline data research."
In addition, she said, "Designating Sejeong Outlet as an autonomous commercial district is expected to serve as a turning point for Seo-gu, allowing it to leap from being the top commercial district in Gwangju to becoming a leading commercial district nationwide. We will fully support the remaining procedures in close cooperation with not only the Seo-gu Council but also Gwangju City Council members."
She also pointed out, "Although the application for the establishment of the Pungam Integrated Health Center received project funding based on the plan to use the Seobitmaru building, we are now in a situation where we have to find an alternative location."
In conclusion, Assemblywoman Kim emphasized, "The Seobitmaru Health Management Room is used by more than 150 people each month. Eliminating the existing facility could cause inconvenience and complaints from residents, so a more careful administrative decision is required. Please proceed with the project prudently, prioritizing budget savings, facility utilization, and resident convenience."
