A former head of a redevelopment association in Cheonho-dong, Gangdong-gu, Seoul, who committed a knife attack at the association's office resulting in one death and two injuries, has been indicted and will stand trial while in detention.
On December 1, the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors’ Office announced that it had indicted a man in his 60s, surnamed Cho, on charges including retaliatory murder and attempted murder under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes.
According to prosecutors, on November 4 at around 10:20 a.m., Cho allegedly went on a stabbing rampage at the Cheonho-dong redevelopment association office, attacking a woman in her 60s and a man in his 70s, and killing a woman in her 50s.
Previously, Cho had been put on trial for allegedly committing indecent assault against one of the victims. It is reported that he committed the crime after the victim refused his request to withdraw the complaint.
