The Renewable Energy Convergence Support Project is designed to supply renewable energy facilities such as solar power, solar thermal, and geothermal systems to homes, commercial buildings, and livestock farms. Through this selection, the county secured 1 billion won in national funding and plans to invest a total of 2.9 billion won to promote the distribution of renewable energy at 255 sites.

This competition comprehensively evaluated various criteria, including the adequacy of the project plan, implementation capabilities, and whether local demand was reflected. The county received high marks for its resident-focused strategy and concrete implementation plans.

In particular, the county expects this project to serve as an important foundation for proactive local climate and energy initiatives, going beyond simple facility support to establish a regional energy self-sufficiency base in line with national energy transition policies and the realization of carbon neutrality.

The current competition, promoted by the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment, emphasizes balanced energy transition policies that harmonize industrial, environmental, and economic factors, with core tasks including the establishment of distributed energy systems, expansion of renewable energy supply at the local level, and improvement of energy self-sufficiency rates.

Alongside this, the government is significantly expanding the role of local governments through resident-focused installation projects, increased local energy production, and strengthened community participation models.

Imsil County’s excellent selection in this competition is seen as a result of its ongoing strategy centered on energy distribution that directly benefits residents, in line with these government policy directions.

The project is also expected to provide tangible benefits to local residents, promote eco-friendly energy transition, and play a significant role in improving energy efficiency.

Since 2022, the county has supplied renewable energy facilities to 950 sites through the Renewable Energy Convergence Support Project. In particular, the installation of 3kW solar power systems in ordinary homes has resulted in a reduction of about 50,000 won per month in electricity bills per household, depending on individual power usage.

Among residents, awareness is spreading that the expansion of renewable energy supply contributes both to reducing living expenses and to responding to the climate crisis, resulting in high satisfaction levels.

County Governor Shim Min stated, “We will continue to pursue policies to expand the supply of renewable energy so that residents can experience real energy benefits,” adding, “In line with the government’s energy transition direction, we will build an eco-friendly energy ecosystem led by the local community.”
