This event served as the final presentation following the first and second sessions of the Yeoncheon Customized Future Strategy Policy Development Research Project. In-depth discussions were held on future strategies utilizing AI to turn the crisis facing Yeoncheon-a border region at risk of regional extinction-into an opportunity.

During the presentations, Lee Junghoon, Director of the Geography Research Institute at the Korean Geographical Society, and Baek Ilsun, a researcher at the Asia Center of Seoul National University, presented a vision for Yeoncheon-style AI future strategies. Their topics included: ▲ Agriculture AI Farm Twin 3.0, leveraging the geographical characteristics of Yeoncheon as a border area, and ▲ Yeoncheon as a future logistics and tourism hub in light of inter-Korean economic cooperation such as the Arctic route.

Following this, Jeong Seunghwan, CEO of Saefarm-recipient of the CES 2026 Innovation Award for a demonstration project using satellite data with Yeoncheon County farmers-presented strategies for expanding Yeoncheon-style agricultural satellite demonstration projects.

An official from Yeoncheon County stated, "Yeoncheon faces many challenges due to the climate crisis, population decline, and border area regulations. However, based on the AI-driven agriculture and logistics strategies discussed today, we will establish mid- to long-term plans to transform Yeoncheon into an AI testbed that prepares for the future era, going beyond the limitations of a border region."

Yeoncheon County is reviewing demonstration plans for a total of four AI strategies, including those presented at this event, and plans to hold a final report session on December 8 to analyze and discuss the government's AI policy direction necessary for their implementation.
