December 6 to January 11
at "The Gallery Lake"
Songpa District in Seoul (headed by Mayor Seo Kangseok) will hold the 2nd Term Resident Artist Settlement Exhibition, titled "Year-End Tax Adjustment," at "The Gallery Lake" located at Seokchon Lake from December 6 to January 11 next year.
This exhibition will showcase the results of a year-long journey of intense reflection and creative work by ten young visual artists who were selected as the 2nd cohort of resident artists at the Songpa Youth Artist Center.
The settlement exhibition, "Year-End Tax Adjustment," is intended to mirror the process of settling accounts at the end of the year, as the resident young artists review their artistic achievements accumulated over the past year and share their work with the local community.
The exhibition will be divided into two parts, taking place on both the first and second floors of "The Gallery Lake." The first exhibition hall, "Year-End Tax Adjustment," will feature over 40 works-including paintings, videos, and installations-created by the resident artists during their activities at the center this year.
The ten artists of the 2nd cohort are Kang Yeonsu, Gong Yena, Kim Miu, Nam Jeonggeun, Park Jeongseon, An Jiye, Yang Dahui, Lim Jongyeon, Jang Yeonji, and Jo Jeongsu. The works have been carefully selected to best reflect each artist’s individuality and artistic vision.
The second exhibition hall, "The Artist’s Room," is designed to resemble the artists’ actual studios. Visitors will be able to glimpse the process of art creation and gain a more intimate understanding of the artists’ creative worlds.
During the exhibition period, participatory programs will also be offered for visitors. "Conversations with the Artists," where the young artists themselves share the stories behind their works, will be held three times: on December 13, 20, and 27, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
In addition, anyone can become an artist at the "Experience Zone" on the first floor of The Gallery Lake, where participants can create their own drawings and display them directly on the exhibition walls. Every day at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., local resident docents will provide in-depth explanations of the artworks.
"The Gallery Lake" is open on weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and is closed on Mondays and public holidays.
Seo Kangseok, Mayor of Songpa District, stated, "This 'Year-End Tax Adjustment' exhibition will be a meaningful platform for sharing the growth and creative journey of young artists with the community, fostering mutual encouragement and communication. We will continue to provide multifaceted support so that young artists can continue to grow and thrive together with the local community."
