'Spotify Premium Basic' Joins NAVER Plus Membership Benefits

Users of NAVER's paid membership, NAVER Plus Membership, can now enjoy the music streaming platform Spotify for free. Spotify's services will also be integrated into NAVER's search, maps, and other offerings.

Starting from the 27th, Spotify Premium Basic has been included as a standard content benefit for NAVER Plus Membership. Priced at 7,900 KRW per month (excluding VAT), this plan allows users to listen to Spotify's music and podcasts in real time without ads.
NAVER Plus Membership members who select Spotify Premium Basic as their standard content benefit can use this plan for free. In effect, by paying the monthly NAVER Plus Membership fee of 4,900 KRW, members receive access to a Spotify plan valued at 7,900 KRW. This is the first time Spotify has entered into a partnership in Korea that integrates its membership and platform with another service.
Previously, NAVER had offered its own music platform, VIBE, as one of the content benefits for NAVER Plus Membership, but this benefit was discontinued from September 2023.
Spotify's audio content can also be experienced across NAVER's services. In the NAVER Maps app's navigation feature, the Spotify app is integrated, so when users activate the "directions" function, a Spotify icon appears at the top right of the screen, allowing users to move directly to the Spotify app. In NAVER search, users can preview songs and albums through the Spotify player. Spotify music charts and playlists will also be made available.

Earlier this month, the two companies entered into a partnership to enable strategic collaboration, allowing NAVER platform ecosystem users to access Spotify's music, podcasts, and other audio content. Going forward, both companies plan to expand audio content recommendations and music listening experiences on NAVER services, leveraging personalized recommendation features.
Additionally, an extra subscription feature has been newly added to NAVER Plus Membership. Previously, users could only select one digital content benefit from options such as Netflix, Microsoft Game Pass, or Webtoon/Series Cookies. With the extra subscription feature, users can now add benefits like Spotify or Webtoon/Series Cookies in addition to their initial selection.
For example, a user who subscribes to Netflix's ad-supported plan as their digital content benefit can use Spotify Premium Basic simultaneously for an additional monthly fee of 5,900 KRW. By paying an extra 4,900 KRW per month, users can receive 59 cookies for use in Webtoon/Series. The extra subscription feature is currently available for select digital content and will be expanded in the future.
