The police and the Ministry of Employment and Labor conducted a search and seizure at Hanwha Ocean's Geoje plant in Gyeongnam last month in connection with the death of a subcontractor worker.


The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency and the Changwon Branch of the Ministry of Employment and Labor began the search and seizure at Hanwha Ocean's Geoje plant on the morning of the 27th, collecting materials related to the accident.


It has been reported that around 40 personnel were mobilized for the search and seizure.


At approximately 10:40 a.m. on the 17th of last month, while a crane was being used to install a ship platform structure at Hanwha Ocean's Geoje plant, an iron structure about 8 meters in length toppled over, striking a man in his 60s, identified as Mr. A, who was working below.


Mr. A was seriously injured in the accident and was rushed to the hospital, but he passed away later that morning.


It was reported that Mr. A was a worker employed by a subcontractor.


Currently, the police are investigating Hanwha Ocean's CEO and others on charges of occupational negligence resulting in death, while the Ministry of Employment and Labor is investigating violations of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act and the Industrial Safety and Health Act.
