Sunchang County in North Jeolla Province is recruiting participants for the "2026 Senior Employment Project" to respond to the aging society and promote welfare for the elderly.
According to the county on the 27th, next year's Senior Employment Project will maintain the same scale as this year, with a total of 3,380 participants. The project has gone beyond a simple welfare policy and has become a core initiative to improve the quality of life for seniors and revitalize the local community.

The number of participants in Sunchang County's senior employment program increased from 1,281 in 2022 to 2,933 in 2024, about 2.3 times higher, and in 2025, it finally surpassed 3,000. This remarkable growth is attributed to the active participation of seniors and the county's continued policy support.
The Senior Employment Project not only supplements income but also helps prevent social isolation among participating seniors and assigns them roles within the community, thereby fostering a healthy cycle within the local society.
In fact, many seniors who have participated in the program have responded positively, saying that having work has improved their health, and there has been an increase in comments about improved communication with neighbors and greater emotional stability.
The recruitment areas are divided into public service activities (2,060 participants), senior competency utilization (1,100 participants), community business groups (120 participants), and employment support (100 participants). Seniors aged 60 and above are eligible to participate in some of the programs.
Especially in 2026, new positions such as senior food bank manager, multicultural foreign resident settlement support, and integrated care-related jobs will be added, providing more specialized and effective employment opportunities for seniors.
Applications will be accepted continuously from the 27th until December 19 at the Sunchang Senior Club located on the second floor of the Sunchang-eup Senior Center. Each township and town administrative welfare center and cultural welfare center will also accept applications according to their respective schedules.
County Governor Choi Youngil stated, "This project is at the heart of the warm welfare that the county pursues," adding, "We will continue to implement senior employment policies that allow the wisdom and experience of the elderly to be well integrated into the local community."
