Sejong Center President Ahn Hosang Wins "Hidden Hero Award" at Korea PR Awards

Sejong Center for the Performing Arts Wins Excellence Award in Public PR Category

Sejong Center for the Performing Arts announced on the 27th that President Ahn Hosang received the individual special award, the "Hidden Hero Award," at the 33rd Korea PR Awards hosted by the Korea Public Relations Association. The center also added that it was awarded the Excellence Award in the Public PR category in recognition of the achievements of the Seoul Ballet Company, which was founded last year.

Sejong Center for the Performing Arts received the Excellence Award in the Public PR category for PR Success Stories with the Seoul Ballet Company, which is the first and only public contemporary ballet company in Korea, established last year. The center was recognized for its efforts to introduce the contemporary ballet genre in Korea in earnest and to nurture the Seoul Ballet Company as a world-class ballet company representing Seoul.

Currently, there are only two national and municipal ballet companies in Korea: the Korea National Ballet and the Gwangju City Ballet Company. In this context, with a lack of stable stages for outstanding dancers and insufficient public support for contemporary ballet, which is spreading globally, Sejong Center for the Performing Arts established the Seoul Ballet Company last year, helping to build social consensus on the need to expand the genre. In addition, the center has worked to build the branding and identity of the Seoul Ballet Company through the development of excellent repertoires and dancer management, and has introduced the company's activities through strategic promotions using various channels such as media and social networking services (SNS), citizen participation programs, and the development of merchandise and other communication efforts.

The Korea Public Relations Association awarded the Hidden Hero Award to President Ahn Hosang, highly praising his role in founding a new genre of public arts group in contemporary ballet, thereby contributing to the growth of the ballet industry in Korea and expanding opportunities for the public to enjoy culture. The association also noted that President Ahn contributed to the global expansion of K-performing arts through the globalization of performance content such as the Seoul Metropolitan Dance Theatre's "Ilmu," which is also a meaningful achievement in terms of national PR for Korea.

President Ahn Hosang stated, "Since declaring itself a producing theater in 2022, Sejong Center for the Performing Arts has accumulated creative capabilities and expanded the cultural influence of performing arts. The Seoul Ballet Company was born in this context as a public contemporary ballet company, and I believe this award recognizes both the strategic communication and the contemporary approach taken during its founding process." He added, "We will continue to provide support and make efforts so that the Seoul Ballet Company can grow into a ballet platform that attracts attention not only in Korea but also around the world."
