The Korea SNS Award, hosted by the Korea Social Content Promotion Association and sponsored by the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Korea Influencer Industry Association, and the Parliamentary Policy Academy, is presented annually to public institutions and companies that demonstrate outstanding performance and active communication with citizens, based on a comprehensive evaluation of their SNS operations.
In this year’s evaluation, Hanam City was highly recognized for delivering what could be perceived as rigid municipal news and policy information in a friendly and easy-to-understand manner by utilizing its official characters, Hanami and Bangwuli.
In particular, Hanam City was praised for effectively combining trending memes and policy promotions on Facebook through short-form video content, which resonated with citizens and encouraged their voluntary participation, keeping pace with rapidly changing trends.
Furthermore, Hanam City is maximizing its "promotional synergy" not only through Facebook, which led to this award, but also by actively expanding its communication across various SNS channels such as YouTube, Instagram, and KakaoTalk.
On YouTube, Hanam City targeted younger audiences by parodying trending memes such as "Show Me the Hanamoney," and on Instagram, it showcased stylish Reels videos, resulting in a steep increase in subscribers. Additionally, the "Hanami and Bangwuli" emoticons distributed through the KakaoTalk channel quickly ran out, helping the number of friends surpass 82,000. This multi-faceted communication strategy, tailored to the characteristics of each platform, has been deemed highly effective.
Moreover, by actively utilizing the city’s official characters, Hanami and Bangwuli, for policy promotions, Hanam City has been producing the monthly "DamdaDi" series (meaning "Extremely Useful Information Provided by the Person in Charge"), which delivers a wide range of valuable policy information in an easy and accurate manner, receiving enthusiastic responses from citizens.
A city official stated, "SNS is an essential promotional tool for quickly delivering various news in real time, and we believe its scope should continue to expand," adding, "We will continue to strive to provide citizens with fast and accurate information and news about Hanam City."
