Removal of Hazardous Trees and Road Surface Reinforcement
on Gwanggyosan Dulle-gil Trail, Taegyo Forest Trail, and Forest Roads
Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced on November 26 that it has completed a total of three forest disaster prevention maintenance projects, including the Gwanggyosan Dulle-gil Trail, Taegyo Forest Trail, and forest road improvements.
This initiative was carried out to proactively eliminate risk factors within the forest caused by the increasing frequency of weather abnormalities such as heavy rain and snowfall, in order to prevent safety accidents.

The maintenance project for the Gwanggyosan Dulle-gil Trail was conducted over a 2.2-kilometer section from the summit of Barasan to the summit of Baegunsan, covering the area of San 135, Gogi-dong, Suji-gu. The city focused on major points frequently used by visitors, maintaining approximately 100 trees, including 39 hazardous trees and 71 dead, damaged, or pruned trees.
The maintenance project for the Taegyo Forest Trail in the Wangsang-ri area of Mohyeon-eup has also been completed. The Taegyo Forest Trail is a section where trees have repeatedly been damaged and broken due to heavy snowfall and strong winds. The city, in cooperation with a specialized company, completed the removal of hazardous trees and pruning.
The forest roads in Wangsang-ri and Namdong, which are frequently used by citizens, were also maintained. In the case of the Wangsang-ri forest road, the severely eroded concrete surface was reinforced and retaining walls were installed to prevent the risk of slope collapse. For the Namdong forest road, a new drainage system was installed and the road surface was improved in sections where water repeatedly overflowed during rainfall.
Lee Sangil, Mayor of Yongin City, stated, "This maintenance project was carried out with the highest priority on citizen safety, proactively addressing disaster-prone factors in forest areas," and urged, "We ask all citizens to pay special attention to safety when hiking during the winter season."
