Comedian Lee Jinho, 39, who has been under police investigation on charges of illegal gambling, has been referred to the prosecution again following a supplementary investigation by the police.
The Gangnam Police Station in Seoul announced on the 25th that Lee was sent to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office without detention in September on gambling charges. Lee is suspected of participating in gambling multiple times by using illegal online gambling sites.
Previously, the police had referred Lee’s case to the prosecution in April, but conducted additional investigations after the prosecution requested further inquiries. At the time, the prosecution reportedly asked for supplementary investigations into the gambling sites Lee had used and the bank accounts of those involved.

Earlier, the police launched their investigation after receiving a public petition via the e-People portal requesting an inquiry into Lee’s alleged gambling and fraud.
In a post on Instagram in October last year, Lee stated, “In 2020, I happened to start playing games on an illegal online gambling site by chance and ended up with debts that were too much to handle.”
Lee has also been referred to the prosecution on charges of drunk driving (violation of the Road Traffic Act).
He is suspected of driving under the influence for about 100 kilometers from Incheon to his residence in Yangpyeong County, Gyeonggi Province, in the early morning hours of September 24. At the time, his blood alcohol concentration was found to be at a level warranting license revocation (0.08% or higher).
