Jindo County in South Jeolla Province has officially announced the commencement of the "Hae-chang and Yeomdae Natural Disaster Risk Improvement District Maintenance Project."

On November 25 at 2 p.m., the county held a safety prayer ceremony, wishing for an accident-free process and the successful completion of the project.

Approximately 200 people attended the event, including Kim Heesu, Governor of Jindo County, Park Geumrye, Chairperson of the Jindo County Council, county council members, heads of local organizations and institutions, construction officials, and residents, all sharing their expectations and commitment to the project’s success.

This project is a large-scale maintenance initiative aimed at fundamentally resolving the repeated flood damage caused by heavy rains. With a total project budget of 81.5 billion won, key works will be carried out along the Jindo Stream to Yeomdae (Yeomjang) Stream section, including the construction of river embankments, 19 kilometers of reinforcement work, and the reconstruction of eight bridges.

Kim Heesu, Governor of Jindo County, stated, "Starting with this safety prayer ceremony, we will prioritize safety in every phase of the project," adding, "As this is a key project to protect the lives and property of our residents, we will push forward unwaveringly until completion."

With this ceremony as a starting point, the county is now entering the full-scale phase of the maintenance work, aiming to complete the entire project in the second half of 2030.
