Kim Kihyun, Democratic Party Gyeongsan Chair, Begins Discussions on President Lee's 'Gyeongsan-Ulsan Highway' Pledge

Kim: "Despite Being a Pledge, Project Remains Uncertain"
Urges Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee Chair to Actively Reflect Highway Pledge

Kim Kihyun, the Democratic Party's Gyeongsan City Committee Chair, has taken direct action to persuade stakeholders to push forward with the construction of a highway between Gyeongsan and Ulsan, a project promised by President Lee Jaemyung as part of his Gyeongsan campaign pledge.

According to the Democratic Party's Gyeongsan City Committee on November 25, Kim met on the 24th with Maeng Sungkyu, Chairman of the National Assembly Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee, and Im Mia, Chair of the Democratic Party's North Gyeongsang Provincial Committee, both members of the Democratic Party. During the meeting, Kim stated, "Although the construction of a highway between Gyeongsan and Ulsan was a campaign pledge made by presidential candidate Lee Jaemyung for Gyeongsan, it is still uncertain whether the project will proceed."

Kim Kihyun, the Democratic Party of Korea's Gyeongsan Committee Chair, met with Maeng Sungkyu, Chairman of the National Assembly Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee, and Im Mia, a member of the National Assembly, on the 24th to propose the construction of a highway between Gyeongsan and Ulsan.

He went on to say, "I urged them to actively incorporate the highway construction plan into the Third Comprehensive Highway Construction Plan, which is scheduled to be announced this year, so that we can meet the aspirations of Gyeongsan citizens."

During the meeting, Kim emphasized, "Building this highway will strengthen the region's industrial competitiveness by reducing logistics costs for auto parts companies in Gyeongsan, where the auto parts industry is concentrated, by shortening the distance to Ulsan, home to major automobile manufacturing plants. Since the construction of the Gyeongsan-Ulsan highway was a campaign pledge made to Gyeongsan citizens by the Democratic Party and presidential candidate Lee Jaemyung during the last election, it is essential to demonstrate responsibility by promptly reflecting this pledge in the current plan."

With the Third Comprehensive Highway Construction Plan scheduled to be announced within the year, Kim plans to continue his efforts by visiting the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Presidential Office to ensure that President Lee Jaemyung's Gyeongsan pledge is not omitted from the five-year plan.
