Advisory to Limit Outdoor Activities and Wear Masks

According to the Jeonbuk Institute of Health and Environment on November 25, a fine dust (PM-2.5) advisory is issued when the hourly average concentration exceeds 75 ㎍/㎥ for more than two hours. On this day, the western region recorded 99 ㎍/㎥ at 9 a.m. and 84 ㎍/㎥ at 10 a.m., while the central region recorded 81 ㎍/㎥ at 10 a.m. and 83 ㎍/㎥ at 11 a.m., all surpassing the standard.

This advisory was issued as foreign fine dust entered mainly the central and southwestern regions until the morning. From the afternoon, relatively clean air from the northwest is expected to flow in, gradually lowering the concentration levels.

Jeon Kyungsik, Director of the Institute of Health and Environment, stated, "When concentrations of fine and ultrafine dust in the air rise, not only sensitive groups such as children, the elderly, and those with respiratory or heart conditions, but also the general public, should refrain from outdoor activities as much as possible." He added, "If you must go outside, please wear a mask and protective eyewear, and reduce vehicle use as much as possible to help lower air pollution."

He also said, "Through the real-time air quality information system of Jeonbuk Province, residents can check air quality information and receive alerts via messaging services, so we encourage everyone to make full use of these resources."
