The Community Contribution Recognition Program identifies and acknowledges companies and organizations that have continuously engaged in social contribution activities to address local community issues. The evaluation is conducted using detailed indicators across seven ESG management-related areas, including environmental management, social responsibility management, and transparent management.
Dong-A Pharmaceutical was recognized for taking the lead in contributing to the local community through a variety of social responsibility management activities. Last year, the company signed a business agreement with “Donghaeng,” an organization dedicated to protecting and promoting the adoption of stray animals. Since then, Dong-A Pharmaceutical has donated a portion of the sales proceeds from its pet supplement “Vetple,” and its employee volunteer group “Dong-A Petner” visits animal adoption centers every month to walk and bathe stray animals, sharing love and care with them.
The “Marronnier Women’s Literary Contest,” the oldest women’s literary contest in Korea, has been sponsored by Dong-A Pharmaceutical for over 40 years since 1983. This year marked the 43rd edition of the contest, with a record 1,246 participants, making it the most successful event to date. The Marronnier Women’s Literary Contest continues to expand the base of women’s literature in Korea and strives to discover new female writers.
The “Love Sharing Bazaar,” a charity event aimed at promoting regional coexistence and a culture of giving, is also held annually at the Dong-A Pharmaceutical headquarters in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul. Now in its 14th year, the event attracted more than 4,000 local residents, who purchased Dong-A Pharmaceutical products at discounted prices and participated in meaningful donations. All proceeds are donated to the Dongdaemun-gu Council on Social Welfare and are used to support low-income and marginalized groups.
“Merry Together,” which supports independent cultural and artistic activities by citizens and assists those with limited access to culture, is also recognized as a representative social contribution activity. In 2020, Dong-A Pharmaceutical signed a sponsorship agreement with the cultural and arts volunteer group “Merry” and has been holding regular concerts to help spread the value of culture and the arts in the community. This year, the company collaborated with the Meiji University Orchestra from Japan for an open-air concert at Hangang Park.
A Dong-A Pharmaceutical representative stated, “We will continue to expand social contribution activities that strengthen our connection with the local community, so that we can provide practical support to community members and those in need.”
