Urgent Directive Issued Following Outbreak at Dangjin Pig Farm
Prime Minister Kim Minseok received a report on the African Swine Fever (ASF) outbreak at a pig farm in Dangjin, South Chungcheong Province on the 25th and issued an urgent directive, emphasizing the need for quarantine measures and an epidemiological investigation.
Prime Minister Kim stated, "The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs must thoroughly implement quarantine measures in accordance with emergency action guidelines, including access control to affected farms, culling, temporary suspension of movement, and disinfection of premises," and demanded a thorough investigation into the cause of the outbreak through an epidemiological survey.
He also said, "The Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment must ensure the inspection of fences around the affected farm, as well as the search for and capture of wild boar carcasses." He further ordered, "Relevant ministries, local governments, and related agencies should actively cooperate in carrying out quarantine measures."
