Yangyang County Website Flooded with Petitions Demanding Immediate Dismissal of Official Over "Martial Law Play" Scandal Yangyang County Office. Yangyang County

It has come to light that a public official in Yangyang County, Gangwon Province, has been continuously harassing sanitation workers. As a result, the county's website has been flooded with petitions calling for the dismissal of the official. The official in question has been placed on administrative leave, and a police investigation has begun.

The free bulletin board on the Yangyang County Office website is filled with posts criticizing the official. This surge followed revelations that a driver-level public official, referred to as Mr. A, engaged in so-called "martial law play" by abusing his authority over sanitation workers, even using the term "martial law."

One resident posted under the title "Dismiss the Devilish Level-7 Official at Yangyang County Office," stating, "I was appalled by the devil-like behavior reported in the news. There may be victims who have not come forward, so a thorough investigation is needed to uncover all wrongdoing. Supervisors who turned a blind eye to this must also be held accountable," expressing outrage.

As the controversy grew, Yangyang County also issued an official apology. In a press release, the county stated, "We deeply apologize for causing great concern to the public due to workplace harassment among our staff. The county immediately separated the perpetrator and the victim, and we will impose strict disciplinary action in accordance with a zero-tolerance policy based on the investigation results."

The Presidential Office also ordered a swift investigation and strict action. On the 23rd, the office stated, "Recent media reports have raised allegations that a level-7 driver-level public official in Yangyang County, Gangwon Province, has continuously harassed, assaulted, verbally abused, threatened, and even coerced sanitation workers into stock trading, causing social shock and outrage. If these allegations are true, not only do they seriously undermine the fundamental conduct and dignity required of public officials, but they also constitute criminal acts that must never be tolerated."
