Hana Insurance Adds Two New Coverage Options to "Hana The Next Dementia Care Insurance," Strengthening Dementia Protection

Hana Insurance announced on November 24 that it will further strengthen its coverage for all stages of dementia by adding two core coverage options to its "Hana The Next Dementia Care Insurance" starting from the same day, in response to the rapidly increasing demand for dementia care in the era of super-aging.

Dementia is a condition that is difficult to reverse once it progresses, and early detection and treatment play a crucial role in determining quality of life and the burden of care. Reflecting customers' needs for dementia care insurance, Hana Insurance has maintained its existing coverage system while becoming the first in the industry to add coverage for both the examination and treatment stages.

For the first time in the industry, the company has introduced coverage for the cost of a "comprehensive neurocognitive function test," which is performed when mild cognitive impairment or suspected dementia is present. The coverage supports the cost of the first test based on insurance benefits. By supporting a thorough examination at the mild cognitive impairment stage, the insurance enables early detection of cognitive decline and allows treatment to begin sooner. This practical coverage expands the scope of dementia care insurance by advancing the coverage to the "early diagnosis" stage, which is key to slowing the progression of dementia.

The company has also newly introduced coverage for "targeted dementia drug therapy." If a patient receives a dementia medication approved to target amyloid beta, the underlying cause of dementia, the insurance pays for each treatment session, covering up to 36 sessions. Although targeted therapies have emerged as a new treatment alternative to slow the progression of dementia, the cost burden has been significant. This newly established coverage aims to ease that burden and help customers actively choose the latest treatment options.

With these new coverage options, "Hana The Next Dementia Care Insurance" maintains its basic structure of covering the entire process of dementia-including examination, diagnosis, outpatient care, hospitalization, nursing, and treatment-while further strengthening the lineup by adding new coverage specifically for the "examination stage" and "treatment stage."

Hana Insurance also provides home-visit brain training services once a week, up to 48 times a year, to policyholders who have purchased the "Mild Cognitive Impairment Home-Visit Cognitive Education Rider" and are diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment. This service, operated in collaboration with senior life solution company Daekyo Newife, was the first in the industry to receive a six-month exclusive use right in August.
