Upload Speeds 1.6 Times Faster Than Other Countries
Public Wi-Fi Download Speeds 10 Times Faster
The wireless internet speeds of South Korea's three major mobile carriers have been found to be more than three times faster than those in major overseas countries.
According to the results of a mobile communication service quality survey released by the Korea Telecommunications Operators Association (KTOA) on November 24, 2025, the average download speed of the three domestic telecom companies last year was 1,025.52 Mbps. This is 3.8 times faster than the average of the seven countries surveyed (268.01 Mbps).
Even when compared to the fastest among major overseas countries, the United States (San Francisco, 501.05 Mbps), South Korea's average is more than twice as fast, demonstrating the overwhelmingly high level of transmission quality in domestic mobile communication services.
The average upload speed of the three domestic carriers (90.12 Mbps) also exceeded the surveyed countries' average (53.88 Mbps) by 1.6 times, while the average latency was 20.01 ms, less than half the average of the surveyed countries (53.64 ms).
The survey showed that while 5G quality has generally improved in each country, South Korean mobile communication services still maintained a clear advantage. In particular, some overseas cities had such low quality that it was difficult to provide normal service in places like subways.
Public Wi-Fi quality was also the highest in South Korea. The average public Wi-Fi download speed in South Korea was 463.55 Mbps, about 10 times faster than the surveyed countries' average (48.26 Mbps). The results of this quality survey can be found on the 'Smart Choice' website.
