The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man in his 30s at the Coupang logistics center in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province.
According to Hwaseong Dongtan Police Station and other sources on November 22, at around 10:30 p.m. the previous day, Mr. A suddenly collapsed in the cafeteria of the Coupang Dongtan 1 Center located in Sindong, Hwaseong.
Mr. A was transported to a nearby hospital in cardiac arrest but was pronounced dead.
It was reported that Mr. A, who was a contract worker, was assigned to simple packaging work.
On the day of his death, he was scheduled to work from 6 p.m. until 4 a.m. the following day.
The police plan to conduct an autopsy on Mr. A's body to determine the cause of death.
Regarding the incident, a representative from Coupang Fulfillment Services stated, "We extend our deepest condolences to the deceased and our heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family," adding, "It has been confirmed that the deceased had a pre-existing medical condition."
The representative continued, "Over the past three months, the deceased worked an average of 4.3 days per week and less than 40 hours per week," and added, "The company will do its utmost to support the bereaved family."
