Gijang County in Busan Holds Joint Public-Private-Police Campaign for "Child Abuse Prevention Week"

Gijang County (Governor Jeong Jongbok) announced on the 21st that, in recognition of "Child Abuse Prevention Week," it recently conducted a joint public awareness campaign involving the public sector, private organizations, and the police to prevent child abuse.

This campaign was held over two days, from the 17th to the 18th, at Gyori Elementary School in Gijang-eup and Lotte Mall in Osiria, targeting local residents and students. Participants included officials from Gijang County, Gijang Police Station, and the Busan Eastern Child Protection Agency. The campaign participants provided information on the importance of preventing child abuse and instructions on how to report abuse, urging local residents to show interest and participate in these efforts.

At the campaign site, interactive promotional activities were also carried out, such as a children's rights quiz, distribution of promotional materials, and guidance on how to respond to child abuse. These efforts aimed to raise awareness about children's rights and build consensus on the issue of child abuse.

Jeong Jongbok, Governor of Gijang County, emphasized, "Preventing child abuse requires the interest and participation of not only administrative agencies but also the entire local community," adding, "I hope for continued attention and cooperation so that children can be safely protected and grow up happily."

To strengthen expertise in responding to child abuse, Gijang County has assigned dedicated officials for child abuse response and operates a 24-hour response system. In addition, to enhance information sharing and cooperation with related organizations, the county organizes and operates an information linkage council every month, continuing various efforts to prevent and respond to child abuse at an early stage.
