Cho Kuk: "Decision on Running in Local Elections Will Be Made After the Convention"

Cho Kuk, former Emergency Response Committee Chairman of the National Innovation Party and a candidate for party leader at the National Innovation Party's National Party Members' Convention, stated on November 21, "Whether I will run in next year's local elections will be decided last, after the convention concludes, a local election planning committee is formed, and the election situation across the country is thoroughly reviewed."

At a press conference for party leader candidates held at the Busan Metropolitan Council on the same day, former Chairman Cho said, "In next year's local elections, I will form the 'Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam Anti-Far-Right Coalition' to drive out the People Power Party and end the long-term rule of the far-right forces in Busan," expressing his intentions.

He added, "The first goal is to prevent People Power Party candidates from being elected as metropolitan mayors, including the mayor of Busan."

Marking the 10th anniversary of the passing of former President Kim Youngsam, Cho said, "I was born and raised in Dongdaeshin-dong, Seo-gu, Busan, and grew up dreaming of politics while looking at Kim Youngsam's campaign posters. I am a 'Kim Youngsam kid.' Former President Kim contributed to the development of democracy in Korea by breaking taboos such as dissolving Hanahoe and introducing the real-name financial system."

He continued, "The spirit of Kim Youngsam is in the DNA of the National Innovation Party," and added, "With the indomitable spirit shown by player Choi Dongwon, I will put an end to the long-term rule of the far-right forces."
