AI Technology Adds Complexity to IT Operations
Over 1,200 Clients Use Watab Labs Solutions
Detecting Issues, Identifying Root Causes, and Preventing Recurrence
"In the era of AI, IT operations within companies are becoming increasingly complex, and the cost burden is rising. The role of observability, which monitors and analyzes issues in IT environments, will become a key growth driver in the age of AI," said Dongin Lee, CEO of Watab Labs.
Founded in 2015, Watab Labs is a leading observability specialist in Korea. Observability services refer to monitoring solutions that analyze the performance and failures of IT operations environments, such as servers and applications. While traditional IT monitoring only identifies and detects issues, observability technology not only detects system problems but also analyzes why and how they occur.
Oasis, an e-commerce platform with 2 million online members, has faced challenges in IT operations due to surges in traffic and server failures during specific times, such as the early morning delivery cutoff. To address these issues, Oasis adopted Watab Labs' integrated monitoring service. As a result, the number of incidents was reduced to less than half, and response times were shortened by 50%, enhancing overall service stability. Watab Labs currently serves over 1,200 clients both in Korea and abroad, including KT, LG Uplus, and AXA Insurance. Last year, the company recorded sales of 8.9 billion won.
Recently, the adoption of AI technologies has made IT operations and network structures more complex, and as many companies move to the cloud, it has become even more challenging to oversee and manage the entire IT environment. As a result, observability capabilities have become increasingly important for in-depth analysis of the causes of IT system errors and downtime, as well as for preventing recurrence.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, Watab Labs is developing next-generation services that incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) technology. At a press conference held on November 20, Kim Sungjo, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Watab Labs, said, "As we enter an era where AI is reshaping development and operations, AI-based explanation, interpretation, and prediction have become essential in the observability market." The company plans to pursue a two-track strategy: launching services for AI companies such as GPU monitoring, while also integrating AI technology into its existing observability services.
As an operational partner in the AI era, Watab Labs began offering GPU monitoring, the foundation of AI infrastructure, in July. By precisely monitoring and optimizing GPUs, the company enhances efficiency throughout the entire process of model training, development, and operation. Key metrics such as GPU utilization, memory usage, temperature, and power consumption are tracked to enable optimized operations without resource waste.
Dongin Lee, CEO of Watab Labs, stated, "The next 10 years will mark the era of 'AI-native observability' led by Watab Labs. In line with this, we will strengthen our role as a trusted AI operations partner that accelerates our clients' business growth."
