Accident Occurs While Traveling from Jeju to Mokpo
Some Passengers Injured in Grounding Impact
A large passenger ship carrying 267 passengers and crew ran aground off the coast of Sinan, Jeollanam-do, prompting the Coast Guard to launch a rescue operation.
According to the Mokpo Coast Guard on the 19th, a report was received at around 8:17 p.m. that the 26,546-ton passenger ship Queen Zenobia 2 had run aground in the waters near Jangsan-do, Jangsan-myeon, Sinan County, Jeollanam-do.
The vessel was carrying 246 passengers and 21 crew members, and was traveling from Jeju to Mokpo. It was reported that the ship had come to rest atop Jokdo, an uninhabited islet near Jangsan-do.

As a result of the impact at the time of the grounding, five people have sustained minor injuries so far. There have been no other casualties, such as people falling overboard.
A breach was found at the bow of the vessel, but no flooding damage has occurred as of yet.
The Coast Guard has urgently dispatched patrol boats and other vessels to the scene to ensure the safety of the passengers. Two patrol ships and one coastal rescue boat are being used to transport passengers to the Mokpo Coast Guard’s dedicated pier.
President Lee Jaemyung, who is on a state visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), ordered, "Swiftly manage the accident to prevent any casualties, and provide real-time updates on the rescue situation so that the public can be reassured."
