Hanssem Establishes "Hanssem Forest No. 2" at Turtle Island in Siheung

Over 40 Employees Participate in Ecological Restoration Activities

Hanssem announced on November 19 that around 40 employees participated in a volunteer tree-planting activity as part of the "Hanssem Forest No. 2" creation event held at Turtle Island in Siheung, Gyeonggi Province.

Hanssem has been carrying out ongoing forest creation initiatives to preserve trees, the primary raw material for its furniture, and to contribute to the protection of Korea's forest ecosystems. In September, the company signed a business agreement with the environmental NGO Forest for Peace to create "Hanssem Forest No. 2," aiming to improve the urban environment and promote biodiversity.

Hanssem Forest No. 2 is an urban forest being established on a 1,500-pyeong (approximately 4,950 square meters) site near the Siheung Shihwa Industrial Complex, where Hanssem's facilities are located. The project is restoring an area that was once overgrown with kudzu vines and unsuitable for plant growth, with the goal of reducing air pollution and noise in the green space and providing a nature-friendly relaxation area for the local community.

During the event, about 40 Hanssem employees planted around 700 Korean red pines, each 1.5 meters tall. The remaining areas will be planted by a local forestry team, bringing the total number of trees in the forest to 1,200. Starting next year, Hanssem plans to expand and develop forest management and ecological monitoring programs with direct employee participation.

Hanssem and Forest for Peace will jointly operate regular ecological management programs over the next three years, including weeding, vine removal, fertilization, pruning, and expert ecological monitoring, to continue their forest management activities.

A Hanssem representative stated, "Hanssem is practicing ESG management by creating urban forests in cooperation with the local community," adding, "We will continue to fulfill our corporate social responsibilities and take the lead in creating an environment where nature and people coexist."
