The Uiyangpo Carnegie Volunteer Association, led by President Jeong Jinseong, donated 10,000 briquettes worth 8.5 million won to Uijeongbu City on the 19th to support low-income households, joining the city’s “100-Day Relay of Love Baton” campaign.
Earlier, on the 18th, the Uiyangpo Carnegie Alumni Association, also chaired by Jeong Jinseong, delivered another 10,000 briquettes, valued at 8.5 million won, to Yangju City.
This donation was organized to help neighbors struggling with heating during the winter, and a total of 17 million won worth of briquettes will be distributed to vulnerable families in both Uijeongbu and Yangju. In particular, the briquettes donated to Yangju will be distributed through the Gyeonggi Community Chest of Korea.
President Jeong Jinseong stated, “I decided to donate with the hope that neighbors who must get through the day with just one briquette will feel a little less lonely this winter,” adding, “We will continue our sharing activities so that our neighbors can feel the warm comfort of not being alone.”
Donggeun Kim, Mayor of Uijeongbu, and Suhyun Kang, Mayor of Yangju, also expressed their gratitude.
Mayor Kim said, “I am grateful to the Uiyangpo Carnegie Volunteer Association for delivering not just material support but also hope to our society. We will do our best to ensure that these voluntary acts of sharing continue to spread and that all citizens can spend a warm and safe winter.”
Mayor Kang commented, “Yangju becomes a warmer city thanks to those who come together from all corners of the community. The sharing demonstrated by the alumni association will be a great source of strength for many citizens.”
Meanwhile, the Uiyangpo Carnegie Volunteer Association, established this year, has been actively engaging in social contribution activities, such as donating desks and daily necessities to Isaac’s House. The alumni association has also consistently practiced community sharing, including donating funds last year.
