"Strengthening the Foundation for Independent Living for Persons with Disabilities"
Jeonju City in North Jeolla Province will publicly recruit implementing organizations for the '2026 Peer Counseling Program for Persons with Severe Disabilities' from November 20 to 24, 2025.
According to the city on November 19, this recruitment aims to strengthen the independent living capabilities and expand the social participation of persons with severe disabilities. Eligible organizations are those with their main office located in Jeonju as of the announcement date and are capable of providing peer support services for persons with severe disabilities. Up to two organizations will be selected as implementing agencies.
This program aims to strengthen the foundation for independent living for persons with disabilities. It is carried out by counselors with disabilities who have obtained peer counselor qualifications and completed peer counselor training courses. These counselors, who share the same type of disability as the participants, provide ▲peer counseling ▲information sharing ▲self-help group management, and other activities.
Applications can be submitted in person at the Jeonju City Welfare Division for Persons with Disabilities from November 20 to 24, 2025.
One participant in the peer counseling program said, "I have received practical help by sharing experiences and employment-related information with peer counselors who have gone through similar difficulties. I hope that many persons with disabilities can overcome social isolation and receive support for independent living through the peer counseling program."
