Yeonsu District in Incheon has established a legal basis to limit the posting period of banners for rallies or events, preventing indiscriminate displays.
On November 18, the district announced the enforcement of the "Ordinance on the Management of Outdoor Advertisements and the Promotion of the Outdoor Advertising Industry," which stipulates that banners may only be displayed during the actual period when the rally or event is held.
Violations of this ordinance will result in fines. The amount of the fine varies depending on the size of the banner: 80,000 won for banners less than 1 square meter, 220,000 won for banners between 3 and less than 3.7 square meters, and 800,000 won for banners of 10 square meters.
The district moved to revise the ordinance after observing an increase in cases where banners related to rallies or events were left unattended even when no such activities were taking place.
An official from Yeonsu District stated, "To prevent harm to residents caused by the indiscriminate proliferation of banners, we have revised the ordinance to include these provisions for the first time in Incheon. We will do our utmost to remove illegal advertisements so that residents can enjoy a pleasant environment."
