The Korea Institute of Design Promotion (KIDP) announced on November 17 that it held the 'Domestic and International Design Employment Mentoring and Seminar' as a side event of 'Design Korea 2025,' which took place at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, from June 13 to 15.
This event was organized as a practical networking platform aimed at strengthening the practical skills of young designers and enhancing their global employability. It directly connected companies seeking job-ready talent with young people facing employment challenges due to information and opportunity gaps.

Major domestic companies such as Kia, LG Household & Health Care, Amorepacific, and Naver participated in the mentoring sessions, as well as leading design-specialized firms in the Korean design industry, including Second White, Skim, and 502 Design Lab. Designers from global companies such as Meta and Forpeople also joined, providing a broad spectrum of mentoring.
One-on-one portfolio consulting was offered to 80 young participants across seven design fields, including visual, product, UX/UI, and spatial design. Each mentor was assigned five mentees, providing approximately 50 minutes of individual counseling and feedback.
At the employment seminar, which was attended by about 240 young designers, four domestic and international design experts served as speakers. Park Sungje, Team Leader at BKID, and Jang Taekgeun, Team Leader at Shinhan Card, introduced trends and recruitment strategies in domestic design roles. Kim Shinhyung, a designer at Boeing Germany, and Park Jeongsam, Asia Managing Director at Icon Incar, shared their experiences and insights on the actual hiring process and career development in overseas design fields.
Yoon Sangheum, President of KIDP, stated, "We will continue to contribute to the industry by providing ongoing growth support programs to foster outstanding works and talent."
