Shinhan Card Opens Areumin Library, "Fulfilling Social Contribution Activities"

Shinhan Card announced on the 17th that it has opened the Areumin Library at the Dogye Regional Children's Center in Samcheok City, Gangwon Province, funded by customer donations.

This marks the 556th opening of an Areumin Library, and the third one established through customer donations.

The library is equipped with books, tablets, and an electronic whiteboard. Eco-friendly construction materials were used to create a comfortable reading environment for children.

The company also provided the children with sets of school supplies, as well as traffic safety keyrings and bags made by employees.

Since 2010, Shinhan Card has been running the Areumin Library social contribution program.

This is Shinhan Card's flagship social contribution initiative, fulfilling the Shinhan Financial Group mission of "Warm Finance."

The company has expanded its support to reading spaces for children and teenagers, community welfare centers, public institutions, military bases, and children's hospitals.

To date, a total of 556 libraries have been established both domestically and internationally, with support for approximately 850,000 books.

An annual donation campaign for the Areumin Library is also conducted for customers.

Donations are collected through card payments and reward points on the Shinhan SOL Pay application.

Whenever the donation amount reaches a certain threshold, a new Areumin Library is established in a needed area under the donor's name.

So far, about 29,000 customers have donated approximately 52 million won.

A Shinhan Card representative stated, "With customer donations, we have provided a pleasant, eco-friendly reading space for children in the community," adding, "We will continue to fulfill our corporate social responsibility through ongoing social contribution activities together with our customers."
