Geochang County Holds Briefing on Organizing Producers for Organic Complex

Laying the Foundation for the Success of the Organic Complex

Geochang County, South Gyeongsang Province, announced on the 17th that it held an explanatory meeting at the Future Agriculture Complex Education Center, attended by County Governor Koo Inmo, related farmers, and local activists, with a total of 70 participants. The meeting was held to gather basic data for the establishment of an implementation plan for the organization of producers at the organic complex.

This meeting targeted small-scale eco-friendly farms and native seed farms, which face challenges in cultivation and production. It was organized by Green Agricultural Industry Research Institute Co., Ltd., and jointly conducted by the Eco-Friendly Agriculture Association, Geochang Native Seed Preservation Group, and local activists from both the public and private sectors.

Based on the cultivation area by farm, production volume by period, basic sales channel status, and the feasibility of planned production obtained through future additional schedules, the county plans to gradually identify producers who will supply eco-friendly and native agricultural products to the organic complex.

The organic complex to be established at Changpowon in Geochang will serve as a multi-purpose space integrating production, distribution, and experiential activities for local eco-friendly agriculture. It will feature various facilities, including an eco-friendly local market, organic restaurant and cafe, processing rooms, experiential zones, seed library, and a startup activation center.

Governor Koo Inmo stated, "The organic complex will become a hub where eco-friendly farmers in Geochang take the lead in delivering the value of eco-friendly agriculture to consumers and future generations," and called for active interest and participation to ensure the successful creation of the organic complex and the realization of sustainable eco-friendly agriculture.
