Victory at WEMIX Championship Event
Season Earnings Surpass 1.6 Billion Won
Prize money queen Jungmin Hong has added another 300 million won to her earnings.
On November 16, at Mauna Ocean Country Club (par 71) in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province, she shot a 4-under-par 67 to win the WEMIX Championship, an event tournament on the Korean Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) Tour with a total prize fund of 1 billion won.
The WEMIX Championship is an event in which only the top 24 players based on WEMIX points from a single KLPGA Tour season are eligible to compete. On the first day of the tournament, November 15, the 24 players were divided into 12 groups and played head-to-head match play. The 12 winners advanced to Final A, where the champion was determined through 18-hole stroke play on November 16.
Having defeated Han Jinseon in match play the previous day, Jungmin Hong recorded five birdies and one bogey to finish four under par. She beat co-runners-up Lee Dayeon and Choi Eunwoo by two strokes. Jungmin Hong, who topped the season's KLPGA Tour prize money rankings with 1,341,523,334 won, earned an additional 300 million won as the winner of this event. The all-time highest single-season prize money record on the KLPGA Tour is 1,521,374,313 won, set by Park Minji in 2021.
The 300 million won awarded to Jungmin Hong in this event does not count toward the official prize money, but her total actual prize earnings for this year have now surpassed 1.6 billion won (1,641,523,334 won).
