Hosted by the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Residents Association and supported by Daegu Metropolitan City and North Gyeongsang Province, the event was organized as a practical platform for the revitalization of agriculture in both regions and the expansion of direct trading culture.
This year's event featured a total of 26 farms, including four districts and counties from Daegu and 22 cities and counties from Gyeongbuk. They showcased a wide variety of products, including fresh seasonal produce such as apples, Shine Muscat grapes, shiitake mushrooms, and ginseng, as well as traditional fermented foods like soybean paste and cheonggukjang, black goat extract, salted seafood, and local coffee. Operated as a direct trading market with producers participating directly, the event was praised as a consumer-oriented marketplace offering quality, reasonable prices, and trust.
The venue also featured a variety of programs to engage all the senses, including performances by local singers, audience-participation singing contests, and agricultural product auctions. Lee Donghwan, President of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Residents Association, former President Choi Byungil, and the executive committee toured the site to encourage both farmers and citizens.
Hong Seongju, Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs of Daegu, stated, "At a time when there are many important tasks for both regions to address together, such as the construction of the integrated new airport and the relocation of the water intake source, this event serves as a reminder of the significance of win-win cooperation."
Lee Cheolwoo, Governor of North Gyeongsang Province, emphasized, "For the region to thrive, agriculture must thrive, and for the region to thrive, the future of Korea will open up. As Daegu and Gyeongbuk share living and economic spheres, I hope this market will serve as a driving force for genuine win-win development."
Lee Taehoon, Mayor of Dalseo District, commented, "Duryu Park is a central space that citizens visit in their daily lives, and this direct trading market immediately contributes to revitalizing the local economy. Dalseo District will also actively cooperate in creating a sustainable distribution structure where both farmers and consumers can prosper together."
Lee Jaehwa, Deputy Speaker of Daegu Metropolitan Council, said, "This direct trading market, where the dedication and hard work of local farmers are delivered directly to citizens, truly demonstrates the strength of the local economy. The Daegu Metropolitan Council will do its utmost to strengthen the competitiveness of local agriculture and expand win-win policies."
Chairman Lee Donghwan stated, "Daegu and Gyeongbuk share the same cultural roots and community. I hope this market event will help farmers in both regions secure wider sales channels and growth opportunities."
This win-win market is more than just an agricultural sales event; it symbolically showcases that Daegu and Gyeongbuk form a "win-win community" sharing both living and economic spheres. Through direct trading, consumers gain trust while farmers enhance their competitiveness, demonstrating significant potential as a regional circular economy model. With the era of the integrated new airport approaching, the importance of establishing sustainable win-win strategies for both regions is greater than ever, making the significance of this event substantial.
