"Open Book and Right to Refuse Testimony Allowed... Forged Documents Not Permitted"
Han Donghoon, former leader of the People Power Party, has once again proposed a debate to Cho Kuk, former interim leader of the Cho Kuk Innovation Party, regarding the decision to withdraw the appeal in the Daejang-dong case. He suggested, "Instead of appearing on broadcasts, let's have a public debate."
On November 15, Han wrote on his Facebook page, "You can bring an open book, come with three people, or even invoke your right to refuse to testify. But forged documents are not allowed." He continued, referring to Cho as "former professor Cho, who sides with the Daejang-dong group," and said, "On the illegal withdrawal of the appeal, let's have a public debate in front of the people-'Daejang-dong group side vs. the people's side'-to determine who is telling the truth. I will accommodate any time and place, so let’s face the public like a beast."
He also shared a thumbnail from a recent video in which Cho appeared on the YouTube channel 'Sampuro TV,' which read, "Cho Kuk has become a beast." After the word "beast" was removed from the thumbnail, Han posted on Facebook, "Did you give up on becoming a beast?" He added, "If you’re so afraid, why did you take my side against the Daejang-dong group, claiming 'Why is it wrong to confiscate in the Daejang-dong case and why should it be handled as a civil matter'?" He continued, "What kind of 'beast' suggests a proxy debate when asked to debate? Instead of running away, you should have a public debate with me instead of appearing on broadcasts."
Previously, on November 12, Han had also proposed a public debate on the prosecution's decision to withdraw the appeal in the Daejang-dong case to Minister of Justice Chung Sungho, former Minister Choo Mi-ae of the Democratic Party, and former interim leader Cho Kuk. In response, Cho said, "Attorney Kim Kyuhyun, a former prosecutor, wants to debate." Han countered, "Don’t avoid the debate by putting forward a substitute whom no one knows. You should participate in the debate yourself."
Cho Gabje: "Han Donghoon is doing the work of 107 People Power Party lawmakers"
Meanwhile, Cho Gabje, a conservative commentator and head of 'Cho Gabje.com,' commented on Han's recent actions, saying, "Han Donghoon alone is doing the work of 107 People Power Party lawmakers."
On November 14, Cho wrote on social media, "In the current Korean political landscape, the politician fighting the hardest and most efficiently in the most difficult position is Han Donghoon, former leader of the People Power Party." "He is fighting both the conspiracy theorists and illegal martial law supporters (the Yoon Again group), as well as the Democratic Party, and surprisingly, he is winning on both fronts," he said.
Cho continued, "He accurately predicted the withdrawal of the appeal in the Daejang-dong case and, declaring 'At midnight on the 8th, the Korean prosecution committed suicide,' responded with lightning speed, seizing control of the situation and dramatically shifting public opinion. According to a Korea Gallup poll, 48% viewed the withdrawal of the appeal as inappropriate, while 29% saw it as appropriate, indicating that conservatives and centrists are uniting to corner the progressive left. Only Honam and those in their 40s and 50s are siding with Lee Jaemyung."
He added, "For this public sentiment to solidify, the People Power Party must follow Han Donghoon's lead. However, party leader Jang Donghyuk self-destructed by saying, 'We are Hwang Kyo-ahn,' causing the party's approval rating to drop by 2 percentage points from the previous week, while the Democratic Party's rating rose by 2 percentage points. Unless the People Power Party cuts ties with the far-right and returns to Han Donghoon's path, no matter how good the opportunity, it will result in a missed swing." He concluded, "Han Donghoon alone is doing the work of 107 People Power Party lawmakers. Attacking Lee Jaemyung while defending illegal martial law and conspiracy theories is a logical contradiction. Han Donghoon is the only one who can land effective blows because he is unburdened."
