"I Was Refused the Procedure"... Even Doctors Advised Against It for the 'Woman with the World's Thickest Lips'

Bulgarian Influencer Ivanova
Dozens of Lip Filler Procedures Since 2018

A Bulgarian woman in her twenties, who claims to have the thickest lips in the world, is reportedly suffering from complications caused by fillers.

On November 12 (local time), influencer and model Andrea Ivanova, 28, posted a photo taken during a dinner with friends on her social media accounts. She wrote, "I tried to get a filler top-up before Christmas, but the procedure was refused. My doctor said she could no longer perform the procedure." She added, "I have no intention of stopping lip filler procedures" and "I am currently looking for a new doctor."

"I Was Refused the Procedure"... Even Doctors Advised Against It for the 'Woman with the World's Thickest Lips' Bulgarian influencer Andrea Ivanova, who claims to have "the thickest lips in the world." Andrea Ivanova's social media accounts.

Ivanova, who began receiving lip filler injections in 2018, is known to have undergone at least 32 cosmetic procedures. She is particularly known for having spent over $26,000 (about 37.7 million won) solely on lip fillers. In addition to lip fillers, she has also received chin, cheekbone, and cheek implant injections, as well as breast augmentation surgery. She once injected fillers into her nose to balance her facial features. Some doctors have warned that the cumulative amount of filler in Ivanova's body is dangerously high. While fans and online users who have watched her lips grow increasingly larger express concerns, saying, "It looks like her lips might burst," Ivanova herself insists she wants even bigger lips. Ivanova states, "I prefer an 'exaggerated appearance' over natural beauty," and considers her changing looks as a form of self-expression or art.

Lip fillers are a procedure that injects fillers such as hyaluronic acid into thin or wrinkled lips to create a plump and voluminous appearance. Typically, fillers are absorbed or naturally dissolve in the body within six months to a year, so regular procedures are needed to maintain the plump look. Excessive filler use, as in Ivanova's case, can lead to side effects, most commonly bruising, pain, itching, and pigmentation at the injection site. In rare cases, complications such as infection, allergic reactions, or skin necrosis may occur.

The lips are a thin and sensitive area, so bruising or swelling may occur after the procedure. If an excessive amount of filler is injected, the surface of the lips can become uneven, or the corners of the mouth may turn upward as a side effect. If the treated area becomes severely swollen or develops yellow pus with pain, it is important to visit a hospital immediately. Incorrectly injected fillers can block arteries around the lips, posing a risk of skin necrosis. Inflammatory reactions causing sudden swelling at the injection site can also occur after some time. If these symptoms appear, treatment with anti-inflammatory drugs, antibiotics, or allergy medications is necessary. Additionally, some experts point out that fillers can cause long-term effects on tissue, such as fibrosis or blood flow problems.
