Expected to Attend Korea-UAE Local Event

Key figures from major South Korean companies in sectors such as advanced technology, defense, and energy are scheduled to visit the United Arab Emirates (UAE) next week to discuss ways to strengthen economic cooperation.

According to the business community on November 13, the Korea Economic Association and KOTRA will hold the 'Korea-UAE Business Round Table (BRT)' in the UAE on November 19. Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong and Hanwha Group Chairman Kim Dongkwan are reportedly expected to attend the event.

SK will be represented by Yoo Youngsang, Chairman of the AI Committee at the SK SUPEX Council, instead of Chairman Chey Tae-won. As global interest in K-Food continues to grow, Samyang Foods Vice Chairman Kim Jeongsu, whose company produces Buldak Bokkeum Myeon, has also been added to the list of participants.

This BRT is regarded as a follow-up event to the meeting between President Lee Jaemyung and Crown Prince Khalid of Abu Dhabi, which took place on October 31 during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Gyeongju.

During their meeting, the two countries agreed on the need to expand their relationship into more strategic and future-oriented areas, and decided to strengthen cooperation in advanced technology fields such as AI, in addition to defense, defense industry, investment, and energy. Based on the areas of cooperation discussed at that time, companies such as Samsung Electronics, SK, Hyundai Motor, LG Electronics, Hanwha, HD Hyundai, and Korea Electric Power Corporation are expected to participate.
