Sunchang County to Hold "Children and Youth Film Festival" on November 14-15

Sunchang County in North Jeolla Province will hold the 2nd Sunchang Children and Youth Film Festival at the small cinema "Genius Space Film Walk" from November 14 to 15.

According to the county on November 13, this year's festival is organized by the social cooperative "Let's Make Our Own Movie" (CEO Kim Youngyeon, Director Yeo Gyundong). The event aims to expand the region's audiovisual culture and provide career experience opportunities by screening films produced directly by local children and youth.

The festival will showcase works that children and teenagers planned, filmed, and produced themselves through a film camp, with approximately 80 filmmakers and local residents expected to attend.

This year, six unique and imaginative films created by elementary school students will be screened: "The Day My Friend Disappeared in a Time Machine" (Yudeung Elementary School), "The 1st Ingye Bae Zoning Out Contest" (Ingye Elementary School), "Hide-and-Seek in Wonderland" (Pungsan Elementary School), "K-Pop Earth Avengers" (Okcheon Elementary School), "My Friend Plastic Zombie" (Dongsan Elementary School), and "Will Winter Come?" (Jeokseong Elementary School).

On the second day, November 15, entries from six elementary schools, including the youth film camp project "Walking Together," will be screened. Afterwards, the "Korean Film Education Academy Cine Forum" will be held at Space Soon.

Director Yeo Gyundong said, "It is meaningful that children and youth in Sunchang can watch the films they made themselves together with the local community through this festival. I hope that learning and expressing audiovisual culture through this process will serve as a foundation for them to grow into future filmmakers."

Meanwhile, the county supported this year's children and youth film camp project with a total budget of 60 million won. Some of the works produced at the camp have advanced to the finals of the 19th Jeonbuk Youth Film Festival and are being screened, achieving outstanding results.
