The Asian World Film Festival is an international film festival that brings together and showcases acclaimed films from more than 30 Asian countries. The Culver Theatre, where the festival takes place, is the site where Samsung Electronics installed the world's first cinema LED, the Onyx Screen, in 2017. The festival will host major events at this venue, including the opening and closing film screenings as well as the awards ceremony.

Through this sponsorship, Samsung Electronics aims to promote the excellence of the Samsung Cinema LED Onyx Screen and will also host a panel session titled "Samsung Onyx: Redefining the Cinema Experience" on November 15 to discuss the future of cinema experiences. The session will highlight how advancements in cinema LED technology, including Samsung Onyx, can precisely convey the visual elements intended by creators and cinematographers, thereby maximizing audience immersion.

Unlike traditional projector-based systems, Samsung Onyx uses LEDs as its own light source, delivering outstanding contrast ratios and vivid color expression. The boundaries between black and white are clear, and the entire screen maintains uniform brightness without light bleed. As a result, there is no edge distortion or loss of resolution, allowing audiences in any seat to enjoy the optimal cinema experience exactly as the filmmakers intended.

Jung Hoon, Executive Vice President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, stated, "We hope that filmmakers and audiences attending the festival will experience the ultimate immersion offered only by the Samsung Cinema LED Onyx Screen and get a glimpse of the future of cinema experiences envisioned by Samsung Onyx. We will continue to expand collaborations under the Samsung Onyx name to drive progress in the film industry."

Georges Chamchoum, Executive Director of the Asian World Film Festival, commented, "The Asian World Film Festival strives to provide audiences with the best cinematic experience. Our collaboration with Samsung has enabled us to present a higher level of artistry and visual storytelling at the festival."

Meanwhile, in Korea, the first LED screening room equipped with Onyx was opened at Lotte Cinema World Tower in 2017, and since then, Onyx Screens have been installed at six Lotte Cinema locations, including Busan and Suwon. In April, the new Onyx (model name ICD) unveiled by Samsung Electronics at CinemaCon, the world's largest film industry trade show, was also installed for the first time in Korea at the "Gwang-eum LED" auditorium in Lotte Cinema Sillim.
