Busan Northern Labor Office Launches 'Intensive Industrial Accident Prevention Inspection Week'... "All-Out Effort to Prevent Wholesale and Retail Accidents"

The Busan Northern Branch Office of the Ministry of Employment and Labor (headed by Min Gwangje) is conducting the "Second Intensive Inspection Week" until the 18th, aiming to prevent industrial accidents and reduce major workplace disasters.

This inspection focuses on the prevention of "falling and entrapment accidents" that occur in industries such as wholesale, retail, and repair services.

This measure is in response to the recent increase in accidents in wholesale and consumer goods repair industries, building management services, sanitation, and related sectors.

During this period, the branch office will conduct both unannounced and targeted inspections, focusing on compliance with five major safety rules for the prevention of serious accidents: falling, entrapment, collision, fire, explosion, and suffocation.

Min Gwangje, the head of the branch office, stated, "Accidents involving falls and collisions during forklift or truck operations, ladder falls, and the collapse of stacked goods are increasing every year in the wholesale and retail sectors." He emphasized, "Employers must inform workers of hazardous tasks and safety rules through a pre-work TBM (Toolbox Meeting), and thoroughly check basic measures such as attaching safety signs, installing work platforms and guardrails, and ensuring the use of personal protective equipment."

He added, "Wearing safety helmets and harnesses is not an inconvenience but the minimum measure to protect lives," and warned, "Any violations of basic safety rules identified during the intensive inspection week will be met with strict action without exception."

During this inspection period, the Busan Northern Branch Office will work in cooperation with the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, private accident prevention organizations, and relevant associations to carry out both promotional and preventive activities, aiming to raise safety awareness in workplaces and achieve tangible results in industrial accident prevention.
