Owner Says, "I Practiced Using YouTube to Convey My Heartfelt Message"
A video showing a cafe owner in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province, kneeling to match eye level and communicating in sign language while handing a drink to a hearing-impaired customer has drawn significant attention.
On November 10, Ediya Coffee released a video and an interview with the store owner on its official social media channels, featuring the owner at a branch in Ansan directly communicating with a hearing-impaired customer using sign language.
The video shows the owner personally bringing drinks to a table where two hearing-impaired customers are seated. As the owner delivers the drinks, he kneels to meet their eye level and greets them in sign language, saying, "Enjoy your drink." The customers, surprised and delighted, responded with, "You are very good at sign language" and "Thank you," giving a thumbs-up in appreciation.

This video was originally posted on the branch's social media account on October 19. It quickly went viral online, garnering more than 1.4 million views.
Online commenters praised the video, saying things like, "I was moved to tears," "Using sign language is impressive, but kneeling to interact is even better," "Such a heartwarming video," "Thoughtful consideration is true warmth," and "I want to go support this store."
After learning about the story, Ediya Coffee conducted an interview with the owner to personally express their gratitude. The owner said, "I wanted to sincerely convey 'Enjoy your drink' to the customer, so I practiced in advance by watching YouTube videos. I recorded it as a personal memory of a happy moment, not for publicity, and I never expected so many people to see it," expressing his surprise.
The branch's social media account also features other videos capturing heartwarming moments at work, such as "Providing free drinks to delivery drivers," "Hugging each other at the end of a shift," and "Sending hearts to customers." Ediya Coffee stated, "We thank the owner for showing that a simple hand gesture can be a warm conversation connecting someone to the world," and added, "As a token of our gratitude, we will provide company-level support to this branch."
