Shin Sangjin, Mayor of Seongnam, stated regarding the alleged preferential treatment in the Daejang-dong development project, "The Lee Jaemyung administration and the political prosecutors have undermined the rule of law by abandoning the recovery of criminal proceeds," adding, "I will file complaints against prosecutors and Ministry of Justice officials."

On November 12, through his social media, Mayor Shin declared, "The Daejang-dong case is a grave matter that infringes upon the assets of the people and undermines the rule of law in the nation," and added, "I will file complaints against all responsible parties, from the prosecutors in charge to the Minister of Justice."

Mayor Shin strongly criticized, "The basic principles of justice and the rule of law have disappeared due to the Lee Jaemyung administration, which abandoned the recovery of criminal proceeds from Daejang-dong, and their so-called political prosecutors," and asserted, "The rule of law has collapsed, and our liberal democratic nation is falling apart."

He continued, "What can the people trust in anymore? In the face of the largest criminal group since the founding of the nation, the prosecution, the courts, and the state have self-destructed," adding, "The people and the citizens of Seongnam have had their assets brazenly plundered by these individuals. We cannot stand by and do nothing."

Mayor Shin reiterated, "I will file complaints against everyone involved, from the prosecutors whose names have been revealed to the Minister of Justice," and emphasized, "If further masterminds are exposed, I will fight to the end so that even the president receives due judgment," declaring his determination to uncover the truth without sanctuary.

The Daejang-dong development project was a public-private partnership initiated in 2015 in the Daejang-dong area of Seongnam. As massive profits flowed to private businesses, allegations of preferential treatment arose, sparking nationwide controversy.
