Wanju County to Hold "Positive Parenting Festival" on the 22nd

In Collaboration with Save the Children:
"Spreading a Culture of Positive Parenting"
Featuring Movie Screenings, Expert Lectures, and Healing Talk Concerts

Wanju County in North Jeolla Province announced on the 12th that it will hold the "Positive Parenting Festival" in collaboration with Save the Children at the Wanju County Government Culture and Arts Center on the 22nd.

Save the Children is currently promoting the Positive Parenting Festival in four cities nationwide, as the importance of parents' positive parenting capabilities for their children's healthy development has become more emphasized than ever, amid growing social issues such as the intensification of low birth rates, increasing parenting stress, and child abuse.

The county analyzed local children's quality of life indicators and parenting stress levels, and was selected as a region with high educational demand. As a result, it is working to provide universal educational opportunities to all caregivers.

This festival will feature a variety of programs for 300 Wanju County residents, including a movie screening, expert lectures, a healing talk concert, and hands-on activities.

Held under the slogan "Learning Positive Parenting Through Movies, Parents Growing Together With Their Children," the event aims to spread awareness of positive parenting throughout the local community.

In the first part, the movie screening and positive parenting lecture will begin with the short film "Corn," which won an award at the 2024 Children's Rights Film Festival. The film provides an opportunity to reflect on parent-child relationships, followed by a lecture from Save the Children Supervisor Baek Jieun, who will offer concrete guidance on practicing the core elements of positive parenting-warmth and structure-as well as healthy communication methods.

The second part will feature a healing talk concert and performance, including a lecture by Director Kim Yoonna of Malmaeum Research Institute and a healing performance by the singer couple Cheonjae (Coffeeboy & Jay Rabbit Hyesun). The talk concert will include panelists such as Supervisor Baek Jieun, Director Kim Yoonna, and Director Yoo Jiin of the film "Corn," who will discuss parenting concerns and seek practical solutions based on questions submitted in advance and from the audience.

Anyone interested in parenting and childcare can apply for the festival free of charge, and there will also be events held through SNS and the YouTube channel. Further details can be found on the official Save the Children website.

County Governor Yoo Heetae stated, "I hope this festival will help residents recognize the importance of positive parenting and spend happy, fulfilling time growing together with their children," adding, "We will continue to promote a variety of parenting support programs tailored to the needs of Wanju County residents in the future."
