The contest, which lasted for about three months, was held to discover ideas for improving administrative efficiency and enhancing citizens' daily lives by utilizing AI technology.
A total of 92 proposals were submitted during the contest period from August 25 to September 14, with 61 entries in the citizen category and 31 in the public official category. The city selected a total of six proposals-three from each category-for the final presentation review, following an initial internal screening and a second round of expert document review.
During the presentation review, policy proposers gave their presentations, after which a panel of expert judges evaluated the proposals for creativity, efficiency, and feasibility through a Q&A session.
The grand prize in the citizen category was awarded to the 'Hwaseong Special City Intelligent Integrated Call Center.' This policy proposal involves establishing a system that uses AI voice recognition and classification technology to handle civil complaints from the city hall and affiliated public institutions through a single integrated channel.
In the public official category, the grand prize went to the 'Development of an Optimal Management Model for Forest Recreation Facilities Using Physical AI.' This proposal includes building an AI-integrated control center to detect fires and accidents in real time, enabling predictive facility management, and introducing generative AI administrative support such as patrol, transport, guidance, and delivery robot service demonstrations, as well as 24-hour multilingual consultations.
Park Seunghyun, Director of AI Strategy for Hwaseong City, said, "This contest was meaningful in that it presented practical solutions for applying AI technology to solve problems in administration and daily life, with participation from both citizens and public officials. We will actively reflect the award-winning proposals in city administration to create an AI-powered city that citizens can truly experience."
